brrrr...I thought it was cold

Oh what a wonderful nights sleep...not ! Been up 4 times with LMB plus it's been rather chilly.

wel LMB being up 4 times is not unusual, but the cold?

Came downstairs at 0730 with the intention of leaving Mrs.A to sleep, only to discover our Gas Boiler has died, we have no hot water or Central Heating, luckily we can keep one room warm because we reinstated a coal fireplace in the lounge a couple of years ago...

Anyway (it's that word again), I've called British Gas, and they can have an engineer out to us this evening because we have young children and we pay for their home care breakdown service, we get a priority call out...thankfully the breakdown cover includes the coast of all parts and Labour and has paid for itself many times over over the last few years. Now we just have to hope the problem with the boiler isn't termnal cos replacement of the boiler isn't covered.

UPDATE: The Main Board has blown in the boiler, a replacement will be available Tuesday, so it'll be coal fires and oil filled radiators for a couple of days. Plus boiled Kettles for hot water, at least our shower is cold water fed and self heating...

Aginoth's Advent Calendar spot ... December 4th

By request of Aginoth Junior today we are going to have a snowman theme...and this is my favourite snowman the star of the Pixar short Knick Knack :o)

It's with Finding Nemo, but the version on the DVD has been toned down, with a less busty Mermaid for example, from the Cinema and online available version.

As soon as it gets a tiny bit cold my boiler also quits its job and shuts down - but like you I have a coal fire, which is ace.

This will make you laugh...I actually work for British Gas. Not as an engineer, but in the office.

It IS getting cold here! I'm sorry your heater isn't working . . . that's no good this time of year.

Here by way of Kat (kitty can scratch), and I'm an American friend of hers living in the UK. Now I know who to ask when something has me baffled (like the DVLA! who created that monster?)!

I have a huge pile of firewood in my yard ( pictures available) that keeps me from ever having to lose my heat to the power failure or the furnace breaking down - its how we live in the mountains.

Those Pixar shorts were v popular in my house too, but haven't been seen lately. I'm gonna get them out again - they always guaranteed me an extra 30 mins in bed of a morning ...

oh, that sucks. we only have lost our furnace when the power has been out and that was bad enough. It was -30 and the middle of the night. Luckily it lasted for only an hour.

Good luck staying warm.
